VARSITY BOWLING
JUNIOR 5’8″

This fall, for the first time ever, the Bay introduced a Varsity Bowling Team and since her first match in August, junior Morgan Kopf said that she has improved every game. Breaking her personal record and topping out at 154 points, Kopf even bowled eight strikes in one match on October 8.

“I have been trying to find new techniques to get better and every game, I get a higher score. I am very proud of how I have improved myself in this sport,” Kopf said. “Watching the other teams also motivates me a lot. Having the pressure of people watching me makes me bowl better.”

With two or three matches each week, Kopf is often forced to leave school early, especially as the championship season goes on. The Bay, despite their rookie status, was a top five team in the Broward County Athletic Association girls’ championship and competed in Districts on October 21 with one team member even qualifying for the state championship. Despite bowling being an outwardly individual sport, Kopf said she finds it to be team oriented and appreciates the connections bowling has fostered.

“As an athlete, my team motivates me the most. In bowling your team’s scores all add up in the end, so I always try to play the best I can,” Kopf said. “I never want to let my team down.”
