“I have…quite the passion for the sport.”
Senior Abraham Serfaty, an attacker for the Bay’s varsity boys lacrosse team, is in his sixth year of playing competitively. Starting in seventh grade, he took a short break due to the Coronavirus pandemic before returning in 8th grade to play for a recreational team in his city titled Weston Warriors.
“Weston Warriors is where I created a foundation for my strategies and made a lot of the connections I have now,” Serfaty said. “Ever since then, I have had quite the passion for the sport.”
During his time on the recreational team, he discovered that he was most fit for the attacker position. Serfaty also has the skills to play midfielder, but he said he prefers to play as an attacker on the field. Serfaty has unfortunately suffered from an arm injury, hindering his abilities to play. He said this challenge has only motivated him as a player and increased his passion to get back on the field to play. Currently, his role is that of an assistant coach.
“Ever since I broke my hand, I have taken on the role of coach. I help the other coaches with making substitutions and other important decisions,” Serfaty said. “Despite the injuries, when I am actually back on the field I believe I will perform pretty well. I am very excited to get back on the field when I am healed.”
