V LACROSSE
MIDFIELDER
#2 JUNIOR 5’9

Junior Wyatt Taylor started playing lacrosse when he was just six years old and currently plays midfield for the Bay’s varsity team. Taylor said he got into the sport because of his dad, who played growing up and through college.

“My dad inspires me constantly to be the best version of myself on and off the field,” Taylor said. “He is at every game [rooting] for me no matter how far. I would not know the game I love if it was not for him.”

When it is not lacrosse season, Taylor still trains, as he also plays left wing on the Bay’s hockey team. He said these two sports are very similar in their fast-paced style of play and the teamwork required for success; however, Taylor said he prefers lacrosse over hockey.

“In lacrosse there is more space on the field and more players on your team to work with, it allows for more creativity with plays and makes the game more intricate,” Taylor said. “I think this is why I would prefer Lacrosse. I thrive on the quick, thinking on your feet aspect of the game.”

Taylor said that pre-season training started toward the end of fall and the team has practice every weekday from mid-January through March. Having four assists and 22 goals this season, Taylor said being on this team has taught him a lot on the field, but lacrosse has also been very rewarding and helped him off the field.

“Through this sport, I learned how to lose. I used to be on a team that would consistently lose every game. I hated it in the moment, but looking back, it has helped me grow into the person I am today and know how to handle struggle and persevere instead of crumbling,” Taylor said. “The most rewarding part for me is not only seeing my team win, but seeing the individual wins from my teammates. Whether it is me helping them get their first goal or helping them with a concept in practice, that feeling is indescribable for me.”
