V BASEBALL
THIRD BASE #11
SENIOR 6′0

Third base player for the Bays’ Varsity baseball, Santiago Valdes, has dedicated a huge part of his life to the sport. He had been passionate about baseball since he started watching and playing it when he was three years old. Valdes said he fell in love with the sport, making it become his passion throughout high school.

“What made me fall in love with baseball was the fact that I grew up watching the sport and playing it, so over time I fell in love with it,” Valdes said. “When I play a game it gets me in a state of full concentration and passion towards the sport, making me love it more.”

When he is not at practice, Valdes devotes his free time to playing and practicing with his friends. Valdes is very important to the team, cheering them on and playing a crucial role in the game against Cooper City on Mar. 19, when he went out to bat.

“I stay motivated and confident by trusting my preparation, focusing on the next play, and learning mistakes instead of dwelling on them,” Valdes said. “My teammates also help me stay motivated because we all want the same thing, which is to win.”
