Aside from a social life of beachgoing, hanging out with friends, baking and many other extracurriculars, junior Lauren Prigmore is a middle blocker on the girls’ volleyball team at the Bay. Prigmore said that she believes volleyball is not an individual sport and that teamwork is what holds the sport together. 

“Every hard-fought point we earn, everyone plays a part in. I learned that teamwork does not just happen on the court, and to become an even better team you have to bond with each other outside of volleyball,” Prigmore said. “Hanging out with each other in school and learning what each other likes make the chemistry on the court shine even better.”

Prigmore said that in volleyball she loves the position that she plays because it always allows her to be up front in the middle of the fight. She said she has always been on the taller side since she was young, so she was always placed in the middle and would float around. The best game she ever played was not in high school but during her middle school years.

“The best game I had was back in middle school. We were playing our rivals, Tequesta Trace, in the playoffs on my 14th birthday. It was a tight game forcing a third set. I went back to the service line and served 14 points in a row to give my team the edge,” Prigmore said. “This feeling was electric and made me feel so good that I was helping my team. After winning, I became so excited and everyone sang happy birthday to me.
